Vivian Olson spent over 35 years as a missionary, in Sierra Leone. A letter that accompanied the seven items that she donated, make some mention of each piece. In her own words:

The brass acrobats come from Ghana.
Description:
Two—piece, decorative, brass, acrobats. Bottom piece, in the shape of a man holding a long stick, upon which the top figures feet are to be placed, in efforts to balance it, using to ball—shaped counter weights at either side of long wire.
